by | Jun 21, 2019 | Discrimination

Last week, a former Jack in the Box employee, Blanca Ramirez, won $15.4 million (consisting of $10 million in punitive damages) in her lawsuit against Jack in the Box. Among other things, Ramirez alleged age and disability discrimination.

Ramirez was 53 years old at he time of her termination, and she alleged that she had suffered two job-related injuries for which Jack in the Box never offered her a reasonable accommodation. Ramirez also alleged that she moved in a “guarded manner” as a result of one of her injuries and that her supervisor consequently called her “grandma” (alluding to the way that she moved).
